i bought my FHM February 2010 immediately after seeing it on display in a pharmacy cum convenience store early this morning after hitting the club.
i immediately bought it because, HEY HEY HEY IT’S RUFA MAE! IBANG LEVEL NA TOH!!!!
yes, i am fan of Rufa Mae. i was a bigger fan then, right after watching her big hit Booba! but now i’m just a fan. hehe.
so yeah i bought it, but i am AMAZINGLY DISAPPOINTED with the current issue. boo!
no it’s not Rufa Mae’s fault. i even think this must be her sexiest shoot yet, beating out the one she did for Rogue.
first let me talk about the cover. the cover is sexy indeed. but after i really took a good look on it, it seems like the cover was taken using a camera phone. so i know that the photographer was going for a depth of field kind of effect, but it is not done in a good way. i actually like the cover that did not make it (if it is really) which you can see on the table of contents. the blurring is kind of poor, and i can also some unnecessary noise. in short, the cover is crap when you take a second look.
so on to the cover story..
*but before that i would like to make it clear that i am not buying it for the girls inside, but just for collection’s sake. lolz. also for the photography and styling.*
the concept of the shoot is nice: valentines na valentines! the styling on Rufa Mae is not bad as well as her poses. but what really gave me a frown is the photos and the post-editing that were done. Rufa Mae looks like a clown who just had had her lips injected with collagen (especially on the second set of pictures). eew. and also most of the photographs spell PHOTOSHOP. her face is sooooo unbelievably smooth that she looks like she just had a pail of botox injected, too. or a sandpaper was used to apply make-up.
i said to myself “who the hell took the photos?” i immediately looked for the credits and it read “Photography: Xander Angeles”
ok. so he might have been the best out there during the Maui, Andrea, and Katya days but he lost his magic somewhere. my admiration for his work began to go low when i saw one of his works from the same magazine some time in 2007. the pictures don’t have great composition, one of the poses of the model looks like as if she’s going to take a dump (and with matching cig pa yun ha?) and it was not well lit, making most of the photos 80% in the dark. i cannot even call it classy. not even close to art. it’s just plain .
i know that FHM has to thank Xander for helping them become the No.1 magazine in the Philippines, but can they say anything about the photos he just took?
aright, you can still buy FHM for the cool articles and features inside (loving the LV car), but if anything, wait for the back issue sale, instead.

guess who’s coming to town?

from BalitangPinoy
nope. Santa Claus is long overdue, and he never did make sipot. only the fake ones.
but Sikat will.
Sikat is the 2nd solar powered car developed by Filipino geniuses, no less, of the Philippine Solar Car Challenge Inc. the car is making road trips to key universities around the Philippines to create awareness to students that we, Filipinos, can put up with the fast improvements of today’s technology.
and pretty soon, Sikat, is coming to the City of Golden Fwenship!
catch this nifty, giant iPhone looking car on January 31, 2010 at SM City Cagayan de Oro and on February 1, it will be at Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan starting from 9:00 am onwards.
and oh, i will be there
the original Booba is on again for the third time!

one of the sought after comediennes in the Philippines, Rufa Mae skyrocketed to fame when she portrayed Booba, a naive, dumb girl from the province who has every men run after her. since then she’s been visible on TV, movies, commercial ads, variety shows, and more. you can catch her regularly doing her usual funny antics in Bubble Gang, Darna, SOP, and Showbiz Central.
and she is on the cover of FHM for the month of February, making it her third time to appear on the cover of the same men’s mag.
so guys, GO GO GO and grab a copy now!
thanks ding!
Ayala is set to build the largest mall in Mindanao in Cagayan de Oro City!
thanks imanhorn!
i think this is not really new but after reading his crap about Filipinos, my brain can only say “ouch”
and apparently the new kind of bastard has a face, too!
his name is Nathan Rocha. Yeah, ironically, he has a last name that some of us Filipinos use, too!
back to the story.
his entry http://facedeluxe.com/tagalog.htm read about how “Philippinos” suck compare to other Asians. from the language, to the looks, to the movies. hmm. i would say he is somewhat correct with the Filipino movies part (check out his post, Sam Milby looks awfully like Fanny Serrano lolz ok back), but there’s so much more to Filipinos than just language, looks, and erm, movies.
but the damage has been done, my boy. curiosity might not kill the cat really but stupidity actually can. and by stupidity, i mean bashing out 90 plus million of us. boo.
here is the bastard’s info, btw:

and here is also his facebook
oh, and Nathan, if one day your balls are scraped off and you find yourself bruised black and blue, inject this lesson to your brain:

time has arrived for me to announce who will be the next owner of THE AMAZING RACE SEASON 1 DVD!!!

now this is something refreshing. cause i am dead tired of the same old Anne, Lucy, Judy Anne, and (worse) Ruffa always appearing on the cover of one of my favorite local magazines.
Jinkee Pacquiao, aka Manny’s better half, aka Krista’s unbeatable foe, appears quite different, but nonetheless fabulous on the first issue of Preview Magazine for the year 2010.

from Preview Magazine's Facebook fan page
so who would have thought that the lowly, budget-conscious housewife of our nation’s champ can be a fashion icon?
initially, i wouldn’t have. but now, somehow it seems promising.
so, ehem, Dionisia, when are you going to appear on the cover?
friends and enemies,
who says Christmas spirit is gone? well, for my part, it’s gone ever since the first group of carolers dropped by our gate. but then, there must be little bit of spirit left.
you see, i was kinda having a hard time trying to sleep last night. bottom line, i didn’t get to sleep (which makes me over 24 hours awake now, and counting). so while i was wide awake last night and these wee hours of the morning (thank you very much, caffeine) i tried to tire myself by cleaning out my space, since it is tradition to do so during New Years. that and i had the luxury to do cleaning.
i had a lot of dvds cluttered around, like i do not even know why i even have some of them. i got rid with most of them and there are some that are so sayang to be thrown away. so now, i am going to give one lucky person a gift that, albeit second-hand, is good enough to keep for a while. and ta-da!!! here it is!

this is an original copy of the first ever season of The Amazing Race! you can tell by the box that it has gone through a lot, even though it’s only 3 years old. but it contains four discs with bonus features (read: nonsense) and it has really good video quality. i bought it in the United States and i bought it for 60 dollars (erm, i don’t know now). but i am handing it to a new owner.
i am in search for the new owner (thank you Ganda Orman for the idea!) is it YOU or is it YOU? hmm… here’s how to grab this thing:
ok, you can get excited now, this is only for people around the Philippines. i am going to shoulder the delivery. deadline for the submission of entries is on 12:01am of January 5 (that is 12:01 am of Tuesday). entries will be judged by me, by my pet cat, and by my neighbor friend/amazing race hardcore to the bones fan.
just leave a comment containing the answers to these questions:
* if ever Amazing Race would come to your home city/municipality/town/barangay/purok, where would you prefer as the pit stop of the leg? why?
* who would you want to welcome the teams?
just answer that and you will have this cool Amazing Race Season 1 DVD!
THE WORLD IS WAITING! GO!

UPDATE: ok, so i am gonna shoulder the freight or whatever, provided that you are from THE PHILIPPINES! okthxbai!
because for the first month of 2010, FHM is handing you a good serving of Rice. Jackie Rice that is.
this 19 year old Starstruck’s Ultimate Winner for its third season, is the first covergirl for this monthly rag.
this is the third time FHM Philippines let a starstruck alum grace the cover… IN A ROW
Starstruck 1’s Jennylyn Mercado appeared last November while LJ Reyes, who won first runner-up for the second season appeared last month. coincidence, maybe…
and my, FHM reinvented itself once again..
i say, good choice for new year banger! i’ll go get a copy, and you should, too!
=P
