Cebu Pacific Sucks

Posted by atty_magman in Something Classy

hay naku, Cebu Pacific sucks talaga. it sucks so hard we are calling it Cebu Pathetic na. sa sobrang inis ko, i don’t wanna go to details na. maybe next time, tinatamad akong mag type ngayon. i am going to share a similar story na lang.

The Filipino Traveler’s Club – Travel Deals and Vacation Discounts I FRIEND POSTED THIS IN HIS NOTES. I THOUGHT I’D SHARE IT WITH EVERYONE! YOU MAY INVESTIGATE ON YOUR OWN TO FIND THE VALIDITY OF THIS STORY!

I find it believable!!!

************************************
A TRUE STORY THAT YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO HAPPEN TO YOU:

“My name is Elma Revillame. I had a confirmed flight with Cebu Pacific, flight 5J476, Bacolod-Manila, Sunday, Jan 17, 2010, departing time 1045H. My friend drove me down the airport and actually saw airport clock at 945AM. We were both confident to be on time. (By practice, you have to be in the airport an hour before the flight, right?)

As I was falling in line at the check-in counter (there were at least five people ahead of me), the counter suddenly closed. A security guard then approached all of us in line, got our tickets and wrote the time. Mine was indicated 1005AM. I didn’t contest because, unaware of their intent, I also noticed at THAT time, it was already 1005 AM. I later realized they were going to use indicated time as “TIME OF ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT”, and NOT as time they closed the counter. THE FLIGHT WAS FULL.

All of us in line waiting were then escorted to the station manager of Cebu Pacific, Bacolod -Silay Airport, MS MENBAH MALTE. She then announced all our “confirmed seats” were forfeited for being late, NO REFUND, NO REBOOKING. She said this to 15 people who ‘weren’t late’ but unfortunately, were excess to the full capacity of the plane. I managed to get some names of the passengers who fall victim of this flight, here are their names and corresponding time written by the guard:
1. Conrado M. Duran Jr. , 1003AM
2. Rolando P. Duray, 1004 AM
3. Elma Revillame, 1005 AM
4. Mario Constantino Jr, 1005AM
5. Welyan Quia-ong, 1009AM

Naturally, we all argued. All of us were totally surprised of the announcement, especially there is NO REFUND AND NO REBOOKING. To note, most of the passengers I was with then were newly-graduated students who were on their way to Manila to take the board exam on Monday, January 17, 2010 . Surely, money is an issue for them, and no outright cash to purchase another ticket. (If I haven’t withdrawn some money earlier, I wouldn’t have cash to buy another ticket with Zest Aire!)

To add insult to injury, the flight was DELAYED TO 12NN, 1 hour and 15mins DELAY!!! We continued arguing because obviously they had ample time to accommodate us for the delayed flight, SHOULD the issue be indeed the fact that we were late. But noooohhh, the issue here is THE FLIGHT WAS OVERBOOKED!! !

We argued and reasoned to the station manager for over an hour (to note the plane hasn’t departed at that time yet) regarding the overbooking, but what MS MENBAH MALTE could only say is that the Aviation Board allows them to overbook by 10% of the plane’s capacity. The big confusion is, should the 110% arrives on time (like what happened to 15 of us), what are they going to do? Ms Malte simply said, we’re going to rebook the rest of the passengers to the next flight! And so, why weren’t we accommodated then??? Because the guard wrote 3-9mins late in our tickets MISCHIEVOUSLY! !! (they emphasized counter closes 45mins before flight) BUT THE FLIGHT WAS DELAYED TO 12NN!!!!!

The truest issue here is THE FLIGHT WAS OVERBOOKED, and sadly we were last in line. It should be okay if we get a refund, or get rebooked to the next flight SINCE WE PAID FOR IT!!!! But alas! No! Cebu Pacific is going to get all our money, without giving us the service that we seek.

Last straw is, I just learned that for a regular or promo ticket, you CANNOT REFUND OR REBOOK YOUR TICKET IF YOU DIDN’T CONFIRM FLIGHT TWO DAYS PRIOR… Ergo, If you’re 1min late (from the 45min cutoff), say bye-bye to your money…. I run the figure in my head, CEBU PACIFIC HAS SWINDLED OVER P35,000 for that flight alone!!!!! No wonder they became number one!!! They swindle all unknowing passengers!! !!

My message (and well I speak for the many of us being swindled): Are we just going allow Cebu Pacific to continue reaping off money to unknowing victims, like us??? Should we really allow them to overbook 10% and just say to those last in line, “Sorry, you’re forfeited, NO REFUND NO REBOOKING –Ergo, thank you, you have just been swindled”. Would DTI or whoever allow this to continue, the abuse of so many victims?

I talked to some security and airport personnel, they reportedly said, “Ma’am madalas nangyayari yan dito, gina-into lang kamo ng Cebu Pacific” (That happens all the time, Cebu Pacific keeps deceiving their passengers). Whoah! That’s truly alarming!

I sincerely hope this gets to you, your loved ones and your friends. I truly hope nobody gets fooled again by this company! This is really really really alarming! Over P40K A FLIGHT???? That’s huge swindling!!! ! And should we count all their flights nationwide, and well, globally, OMG!!! You do the math!!!!

I also hope our fellowmen gets to hear our story. Ok lang sana kung ako lang eh, pero napakarami namen, and this became normal to all personnel at Cebu Pacific! Ang tigas na nga ni Menbah Malte eh…. Sanay na sanay na… You can’t even feel a dash of remorse from them, pocketing average P2500 from each of us! Over FORTY THOUSAND PESOS PER FLIGHT?!?!?! Grabeh!

Sincerely (from the friend who was driving Elma to the airport),

Ivy Rozina Castro y Mondoñedo

Francine Prieto left Bubble Gang?

Posted by atty_magman in Something Classy

porke’t ba on the heavy side na ay hindi na pwede mag artista?

i remember the first ever FHM issue na binili ko out of my allowance is the one with Francine Prieto on the cover.

yun na nga, inayawan na siya ng Bubble Gang. well, di naman natin mablame ang Bubble Gang or GMA or even any TV stations. business is business. you have to take the load off when it is not needed anymore.

but at least you could have given Francine a chance to work on other programs? she can do like, nanay nanayan roles na. speaking of nanay, it’s sad the she is left jobless at the time when she needs a job the most: may cancer mom niya. kawawa naman.

Justice head: ‘Pineda’s rendition may have violated national anthem law’

By Dona Pazzibugan
Philippine Daily Inquirer

Filed Under: Customs & Traditions, Music, Laws

MANILA, Philippines — Journey vocalist Arnel Pineda may have violated the law with his stylized singing of the national anthem during the Pacquiao-Clottey fight last Saturday in Texas (Sunday in Manila), according to Justice Secretary Alberto Agra.

Agra, concurrent Solicitor General, said Republic Act 8491 clearly banned the singing or playing of “Lupang Hinirang” in any way other than the original musical arrangement made by composer Julian Felipe.

RA 8491 imposes a penalty of imprisonment of not more than one year or a fine of between P5,000 and P20,000.

Agra said he did not get to watch Pacquiao’s latest fight so he could not say yet if Pineda violated the law, as the National Historical Institute (NHI) charged.

“In no uncertain terms the law is very categorical. Under our law we must follow the arrangement of Julian Felipe,” he said when asked for comment.

Should the NHI decide to pursue a case against Pineda to set an example to other singers who would be singing the national anthem in such a prominent event, Agra said government lawyers would have to settle the legal question of where to file the case since Pineda sang it in the United States.

“We are confronted with the issue of jurisdiction. I haven’t been requested to issue a new (legal opinion on that),” Agra said.

my unsolicited advice:

- let NHI  sing the song themselves. if they find fault each time, better let them do the tasks themselves. para wala nang reklamo at kung ano pang kaechosan. better yet, send LaLoma’s Marching Band do it. para band kung band.

- there are more important matters that the NHI should tackle -i.e. youth neglecting the importance of Philippine History, people that vandalize Historical site, and worse, the government itself vandalizes and destroys historical site (do you still remember a CDO Mayor approved to destroy the very historical  Huluga Caves in favor of a highway?). these issues are much worthy than listening to what they think about the latest singer’s rendition of the National Anthem.

- can they just be loose about it? i mean c’mon, he sang in front of thousands of people who are gathered around because of passion and adrenaline. they sang it with pride naman eh. bagayin mo ba daw ang march style? you like?

- look at these girls, they are half naked while singing the Star Spangled Banner… lolz (my brother keeps on saying they are the sexiest chipmunks alive. lolz)

NDCC recommends state of calamity in Mindanao

The National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) on Wednesday recommended that Mindanao be placed under a state of calamity as the power crisis continues to threaten the southern Philippine region.

NDCC chairman and Defense Secretary Norberto Gonzales told reporters at Camp Aguinaldo that he expects President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to immediately issue a presidential proclamation for the NDCC recommendation, because “she’s very concerned.”

Gonzales said the declaration would allow the government to use its calamity fund and give it “more freedom” in making “short-term solutions” for the ill-effects of the El Niño phenomenon.

Since February, portions of Mindanao has been suffering from frequent brownouts that normally last between five to eight hours, caused by a 700-Megawatt power shortage.

This page requires a higher version browser

Gonzales said officials from the national headuqarters of the Department of Energy are set to hold on Thursday a dialogue with power stakeholders in Mindanao to discuss different measures like the leasing of generator sets, the transfer of barges from Luzon to Mindanao, and the operation of companies during nighttime, among others.

Present in the NDCC meeting were Mindanao Development Authority chairman Jesus Dureza, Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes, Labor Secretary Marianito Roque, Heath Secretary Esperanza Cabral, Defense Undersecretary Ernesto Carolina, Secretary Estrella Alabastro of the Department of Science and Technology, and Cecil Kristin O’Brien, assistant secretary of the Office of the Press Secretary.

Gonzales admitted that their decision to recommend declaring a state of calamity was brought about by Congress’ “failure” to hold a special session to tackle measures in cushioning the effects of El Niño.

In late February, Reyes submitted a recommendation to the President asking her to declare a power crisis in Mindanao.

Among the DOE’s recommendations for solving the Mindanao power crisis are the rental of 160-megawatt (MW) generator sets and the operation and maintenance of the Alsons Corp.’s 30-megawatt Iligan Diesel Power Plant 1.

The energy chief also recommended that the government enter into an operation and maintenance agreement with Alsons Corp. for the 70-megawatt Iligan Diesel Power Plant 2, and enter into a contract with Southern Philippines Power Corp. for another five megawatts of electricity.

On March 4, Mrs. Arroyo said he would be heeding Reyes’ recommendations.

Three days before that, on March 1, the House energy committee approved a proposal asking Mrs. Arroyo to declare a power crisis in Mindanao.

The motion proposed by Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez was unanimously approved, “recommend[ing] that the President act under Section 71 of the Epira [Electric Power Industry Reform Act] law and that she determine and declare that there is an acute and a present, actual shortage of electricity.”

It was the same motion that also asked the President to call Congress to a joint session.

But whether Congress would be able to have sufficient numbers to muster a quorum is another issue, as many incumbent legislators are running for reelection. In the Senate, four senators are running for president, while two are running for vice president. — with Mark Merueñas/RSJ, GMANews.TV

An Open Letter to CBCP

Posted by atty_magman in Something Classy

Dear CBCP,

quit meddling with politics and continue preaching His Word, since that’s the only power that has been bestowed upon you.

back in my Philippine History class in college, our professor told us why you guys keep sticking your nose to the dirty surface that is Philippine Government. she told us that it’s because Spanish missionaries were sent to these God-forsaken islands to advertise Christianity and eat what ‘s on their plate, bring it back to their country, and own whatever land they own. some of them weren’t even priests but just posers who wanted to lead these lands. and this practice has been passed on from generation to generation even up until now. and no, she’s not bluffing. perhaps, you know Ms. Carolina P. Danao, former Dean of College of Arts and Social Sciences of Mindanao State University – IIT? if you do, then perhaps you really know what she’s saying. but then i digress.

i was born a year before EDSA I sparked and amazed the whole world  how bloodless revolution can be even possible. and I am at awe for the fact that Cardinal Sin (may God bless his soul – but then i guess They are Kumpadres up there) contributed a lot in uniting the whole of Metro Manila and some provinces in ousting the late president and semi-idol Ferdie. but then, this fact does not give you free passes of meddling with what the government should do and what should not do.

first, you guys should STOP preaching political issues during mass. God, i hate it when i happen to listen to one. one reason why i do not go to church more often. instead of saying the Good News, you invite church goers to a rally. on the streets. what the hell is that?  and worse, you guys point out the dirty marks on politicians that you don’t support. you say that’s the benefit of all. i say that’s selling out. i think you should stick to the Holy Bible. you will see there’s no Philippine Elections written there.

second, if you do not have any suggestions in solving the country’s problem with population, then stop ricocheting words of disagreement and disgust on the solution. it just gives me the creeps to think that we will double our number in a few years. that means more hungry people, more homeless families, more jobless individuals, a dirtier country full of dirty people that are so hard to educate because they have dirtier minds and because you are just okay with it. the morales of the kids nowadays are getting low. i can eavesdrop on kids talking on the street about sex. kids of about 8 to 12 years old talking about sex. if this does not scare you, you might have the problem, not them, not us. speaking of sex…

have you guys heard about HIV? how about AIDS? i bet you have. in case you haven’t, well it’s really a serious case and sex education and contraceptives like condom are good help. but why are you guys so afraid of the rubber? why do you keep on saying that it is not for a good cause? because it degrades what you believe in? seriously, i think it’s because you guys don’t have the freedom to f*ck any churchgoer that you have an eye with (or because you can’t just have the liberty to discuss about who you made love with – aminin). i have observed, the Filipinos are getting hornier by the minute. and horny Filipinos are getting younger, too. why? because the more you oppose, the more they will rebel.  if you can’t be so supportive about this cause, imagine the thrill.

lastly, stop speaking in behalf of your beliefs (or lack thereof). that’s just too selfish and it does not help us improve and also does not give us the right to proclaim ourselves as a better nation. i am pleading you to stop injecting what you oppose to thousands and millions of people who attend to your preachings because you do not know what it is like to feed 5, 6, and even 20 children with only 100 pesos a day. you don’t know what it is to have incurable disease that most victims don’t know they have it.

stop, because you simply don’t know.

Chowking Velez Cagayan de Oro Sucks

Posted by atty_magman in Something Classy

one of the things that i envy about other countries is that they really have good service when it comes to their restaurants. they make sure you are properly seated, they make sure they get your orders right, and they do anything they can just to make sure you are enjoying your stay, your meal and most importantly, your experience with them.

here in the Philippines, hmm, let’s just say that  most of them don’t follow such practice. even giant fastfood chains are no exception. and here is my little experience with Chowking Velez – Cagayan de Oro.

because of the daily power outage, i have no choice but to hunt for coffee shops or bistro that has WiFi connection for the past few weeks. and since i am starting to run out of cash, my brother and i went to Chowking Velez (near Gaisano City and Capitol Hall of Misamis Oriental), just to have black gulaman, rather than having gourmet coffee (malayo pa ang Friday).

at first we were disappointed that they took time to clean up tables. i have asked 2 waiters a couple of times to kindly clean our tables. but they just nodded and never returned, until me and my brother said in a composed but demanding tone “bida, ganiha ra mi dire, unaha mi dire (for God’s sake, we’ve been here for a while now, please clean this table up first). and so off he cleaned it. and our order arrived soon after cleaning.

moments later, the supervisor came close to my table and asked if i was waiting for something. i said no, and i found out that the cue is still on my table, so he grabbed it and, i don’t know but i felt he hates my presence. and in a matter of seconds my WiFi connection was gone.

i panicked because i was still in the middle of a conversation with a client. we were not finished yet with our talk but it suddenly cut-off! wth!

i then went to the cash register to ask if there’s something wrong with the connection, apparently my brother’s connection got cut off, too (just to show that it’s not my laptop’s fault). i asked one of the cashiers, and she pointed me out to that supervisor who approached me on my table while i was doing work. he then told me that he will refresh the router or something, so i went back to my table. i refreshed it but still, no darn connection.

i was about to lose my cool, when i approached a waiter who was busing out dishes, i asked him “kuya, may time limit ba internet niyo?” he said wala. and then i told him “eh bakit naman nawala connection ko?” he asked if i have entered,  the right password, i said yes. and just as soon i was about to ask something, he left, as if he was done with my problem. no, he was not yet done!

i asked my brother if we could leave immediately, and so off we went.

and if you might think i am just being dramatic, see, i am not the only one who has experienced the same problem with the same establishment.

a year ago, my friend Robstroy shared his sentiment with Chowking Velez. you can read his post on how Chowking Velez sucks here.

one of the things that our food and beverage industry lacking is the proper training of their staff and crew. nakakainis isipin, to think we are known for being hospitable, but we can be so rude and judgmental to our own brothers and sisters.

i am deeply disappointed with this because it could have cost me a good client and my job just because my connection got cut off. i am so lucky enough my client understood the ordeal i had gone through. but what if i was not? what if he would reject my work right then and there? and what if it could happen to you, and you are not as lucky as me? hassle, right?

so if you want to go out and you are looking for WiFi location around the city, going to Chowking Velez in Cagayan de Oro City is not really a good idea.

i hope that this entry will come to the establishment’s attention.

6969,

atty magman

*i updated some major typos. i was rushing to finish this post because my lappy’s battery was about to go kaput. sorry about that* -magman

*i will just jot this down before i go to sleep. our rotating blackout schedule here in Mindanao is slowly becoming a woman: unpredictable* kidding

so it’s confirmed that Ruffa Gutierrez (or Guttierez? sorry, until now i still get confused with the right spelling) is out of ABS-CBN and off to TV5 (i first thought GMA). but Kris Aquino/Noy Aquino’s sister/James Yap’s wife/Baby Jame’s mother/her parent’s daughter has said something that made Ruffa aggravated, emotional, and finally walked away of “The Buzz” set.

here is the video of the said incident:

way to go, Kris. there goes your brother’s plus points, too.

moments later, monster mom Annabelle Rama, predictably, made a reaction paper on “The S Files” (plus Pia Guanio’s eyeroll reaction is a classic – watch out for 0:14):

here are my 50 peso bill (because two cents? that’s damn small!):

- Kris Aquino is known to be tactless, but just because we know that fact does not mean that she can get away with it. she really needs to know when to shut up.

- i might not like Ruffa at all times because she’s OA, you know? but i am for her this time, because it’s not right to make a joke out of someone’s sadness. especially if the joke is not really designed for comfort. it’s like losing your wallet and your friends will laugh at you because you’re broke.

- Raymond Gutierrez is gay.

- Pia Guanio needs to know when to not roll her eyes. on national TV.

- after listening to monster mom’s phone patch, Annabelle Rama reminds me of this video clip:
