back in my Philippine History class in college, our professor told us why you guys keep sticking your nose to the dirty surface that is Philippine Government. she told us that it’s because Spanish missionaries were sent to these God-forsaken islands to advertise Christianity and eat what ’s on their plate, bring it back to their country, and own whatever land they own. some of them weren’t even priests but just posers who wanted to lead these lands. and this practice has been passed on from generation to generation even up until now. and no, she’s not bluffing. perhaps, you know Ms. Carolina P. Danao, former Dean of College of Arts and Social Sciences of Mindanao State University - IIT? if you do, then perhaps you really know what she’s saying. but then i digress.

i was born a year before EDSA I sparked and amazed the whole world  how bloodless revolution can be even possible. and I am at awe for the fact that Cardinal Sin (may God bless his soul - but then i guess They are Kumpadres up there) contributed a lot in uniting the whole of Metro Manila and some provinces in ousting the late president and semi-idol Ferdie. but then, this fact does not give you free passes of meddling with what the government should do and what should not do.

first, you guys should STOP preaching political issues during mass. God, i hate it when i happen to listen to one. one reason why i do not go to church more often. instead of saying the Good News, you invite church goers to a rally. on the streets. what the hell is that?  and worse, you guys point out the dirty marks on politicians that you don’t support. you say that’s the benefit of all. i say that’s selling out. i think you should stick to the Holy Bible. you will see there’s no Philippine Elections written there.

second, if you do not have any suggestions in solving the country’s problem with population, then stop ricocheting words of disagreement and disgust on the solution. it just gives me the creeps to think that we will double our number in a few years. that means more hungry people, more homeless families, more jobless individuals, a dirtier country full of dirty people that are so hard to educate because they have dirtier minds and because you are just okay with it. the morales of the kids nowadays are getting low. i can eavesdrop on kids talking on the street about sex. kids of about 8 to 12 years old talking about sex. if this does not scare you, you might have the problem, not them, not us. speaking of sex…

have you guys heard about HIV? how about AIDS? i bet you have. in case you haven’t, well it’s really a serious case and sex education and contraceptives like condom are good help. but why are you guys so afraid of the rubber? why do you keep on saying that it is not for a good cause? because it degrades what you believe in? seriously, i think it’s because you guys don’t have the freedom to f*ck any churchgoer that you have an eye with (or because you can’t just have the liberty to discuss about who you made love with - aminin). i have observed, the Filipinos are getting hornier by the minute. and horny Filipinos are getting younger, too. why? because the more you oppose, the more they will rebel.  if you can’t be so supportive about this cause, imagine the thrill.

lastly, stop speaking in behalf of your beliefs (or lack thereof). that’s just too selfish and it does not help us improve and also does not give us the right to proclaim ourselves as a better nation. i am pleading you to stop injecting what you oppose to thousands and millions of people who attend to your preachings because you do not know what it is like to feed 5, 6, and even 20 children with only 100 pesos a day. you don’t know what it is to have incurable disease that most victims don’t know they have it.

stop, because you simply don’t know.

here in the Philippines, hmm, let’s just say that  most of them don’t follow such practice. even giant fastfood chains are no exception. and here is my little experience with Chowking Velez - Cagayan de Oro.

because of the daily power outage, i have no choice but to hunt for coffee shops or bistro that has WiFi connection for the past few weeks. and since i am starting to run out of cash, my brother and i went to Chowking Velez (near Gaisano City and Capitol Hall of Misamis Oriental), just to have black gulaman, rather than having gourmet coffee (malayo pa ang Friday).

at first we were disappointed that they took time to clean up tables. i have asked 2 waiters a couple of times to kindly clean our tables. but they just nodded and never returned, until me and my brother said in a composed but demanding tone “bida, ganiha ra mi dire, unaha mi dire (for God’s sake, we’ve been here for a while now, please clean this table up first). and so off he cleaned it. and our order arrived soon after cleaning.

moments later, the supervisor came close to my table and asked if i was waiting for something. i said no, and i found out that the cue is still on my table, so he grabbed it and, i don’t know but i felt he hates my presence. and in a matter of seconds my WiFi connection was gone.

i panicked because i was still in the middle of a conversation with a client. we were not finished yet with our talk but it suddenly cut-off! wth!

i then went to the cash register to ask if there’s something wrong with the connection, apparently my brother’s connection got cut off, too (just to show that it’s not my laptop’s fault). i asked one of the cashiers, and she pointed me out to that supervisor who approached me on my table while i was doing work. he then told me that he will refresh the router or something, so i went back to my table. i refreshed it but still, no darn connection.

i was about to lose my cool, when i approached a waiter who was busing out dishes, i asked him “kuya, may time limit ba internet niyo?” he said wala. and then i told him “eh bakit naman nawala connection ko?” he asked if i have entered,  the right password, i said yes. and just as soon i was about to ask something, he left, as if he was done with my problem. no, he was not yet done!

i asked my brother if we could leave immediately, and so off we went.

and if you might think i am just being dramatic, see, i am not the only one who has experienced the same problem with the same establishment.

a year ago, my friend Robstroy shared his sentiment with Chowking Velez. you can read his post on how Chowking Velez sucks here.

one of the things that our food and beverage industry lacking is the proper training of their staff and crew. nakakainis isipin, to think we are known for being hospitable, but we can be so rude and judgmental to our own brothers and sisters.

i am deeply disappointed with this because it could have cost me a good client and my job just because my connection got cut off. i am so lucky enough my client understood the ordeal i had gone through. but what if i was not? what if he would reject my work right then and there? and what if it could happen to you, and you are not as lucky as me? hassle, right?

so if you want to go out and you are looking for WiFi location around the city, going to Chowking Velez in Cagayan de Oro City is not really a good idea.

i hope that this entry will come to the establishment’s attention.

so it’s confirmed that Ruffa Gutierrez (or Guttierez? sorry, until now i still get confused with the right spelling) is out of ABS-CBN and off to TV5 (i first thought GMA). but Kris Aquino/Noy Aquino’s sister/James Yap’s wife/Baby Jame’s mother/her parent’s daughter has said something that made Ruffa aggravated, emotional, and finally walked away of “The Buzz” set.

i remember back then that Rubi was a hit. but even back then, i was not really paying attention to that said telenovela from Mexico (prolly because i was not into ABS-CBN much before or that i already have a life back then lol). but the remake really made check the clock and see if it is already on the TV.

hands down, Angelica  fits the role. although it would have been better (or not) if they slated Angel Locsin to play the role of the conniving and ruthless gold digger. but Angelica is a safe choice and a good ingenue nevertheless. also starring are Shaina Magdayao, Diether Ocampo, Jake Cuenca, and Ms. Cherie Gil among others…

DIVA

as for GMA-7, i also like their newest offering. a breath of fresh air

the first “Kantaserye” (it sounds really funny, sorry), Diva is a story of three singers with different personalities: The Wannabe (played by Rufa Mae), The Rival (played by Glaiza de Castro), and The Anything But…. (played by Regine Velasquez).

never really a big fan of Regine, but I find this series really promising. plus Rufa Mae. yeesss….

also starring are TJ Trinidad, Buboy Garuvilyo(spelling?), Mark Anthony Fernandez, Jaya, and Ms. Gloria Diaz among others.

now these two are worth watching. so stop the network wars crap and support Philippine Television instead!
