i bought my FHM February 2010 immediately after seeing it on display in a pharmacy cum convenience store early this morning after hitting the club.
i immediately bought it because, HEY HEY HEY IT’S RUFA MAE! IBANG LEVEL NA TOH!!!!
yes, i am fan of Rufa Mae. i was a bigger fan then, right after watching her big hit Booba! but now i’m just a fan. hehe.
so yeah i bought it, but i am AMAZINGLY DISAPPOINTED with the current issue. boo!
no it’s not Rufa Mae’s fault. i even think this must be her sexiest shoot yet, beating out the one she did for Rogue.
first let me talk about the cover. the cover is sexy indeed. but after i really took a good look on it, it seems like the cover was taken using a camera phone. so i know that the photographer was going for a depth of field kind of effect, but it is not done in a good way. i actually like the cover that did not make it (if it is really) which you can see on the table of contents. the blurring is kind of poor, and i can also some unnecessary noise. in short, the cover is crap when you take a second look.
so on to the cover story..
*but before that i would like to make it clear that i am not buying it for the girls inside, but just for collection’s sake. lolz. also for the photography and styling.*
the concept of the shoot is nice: valentines na valentines! the styling on Rufa Mae is not bad as well as her poses. but what really gave me a frown is the photos and the post-editing that were done. Rufa Mae looks like a clown who just had had her lips injected with collagen (especially on the second set of pictures). eew. and also most of the photographs spell PHOTOSHOP. her face is sooooo unbelievably smooth that she looks like she just had a pail of botox injected, too. or a sandpaper was used to apply make-up.
i said to myself “who the hell took the photos?” i immediately looked for the credits and it read “Photography: Xander Angeles”
ok. so he might have been the best out there during the Maui, Andrea, and Katya days but he lost his magic somewhere. my admiration for his work began to go low when i saw one of his works from the same magazine some time in 2007. the pictures don’t have great composition, one of the poses of the model looks like as if she’s going to take a dump (and with matching cig pa yun ha?) and it was not well lit, making most of the photos 80% in the dark. i cannot even call it classy. not even close to art. it’s just plain .
i know that FHM has to thank Xander for helping them become the No.1 magazine in the Philippines, but can they say anything about the photos he just took?
aright, you can still buy FHM for the cool articles and features inside (loving the LV car), but if anything, wait for the back issue sale, instead.
